Using Winamp To DJ With?

Just seen a topic pop up on the Winamp forums where someone said they were using Winamp to DJ.

Another user replied with:

“Real DJs don’t use Winamp to DJ it doesn’t crossfade properly”

Indeed DJ’s don’t use Winamp to produce mixes or radio shows. We use other software that is built for the job.

I attempted to use Winamp to stream a radio station over 15 years ago, There wasn’t much choice back in 2002 and it just didn’t do the job I wanted it to do.

(SAM Broadcaster didn’t fare much better)

Winamp is only any good as a media player for listening to Shoutcast streams.

While Winamp may have been a starting point for anyone who wanted to DJ years ago, There is now far better software than Winamp to DJ with.

1) Mixxx

Mixxx

2) Virtual DJ

virtual-dj-pro

3) RadioDJ

RadioDJ free radio automation software

4) Traktor

traktor-dj-studio_5

Those are just a few of the programs available to DJ with. You can find others by searching Google.

“Anyone who is serious about DJ work these days wouldn’t even touch Winamp”

If you use Winamp to DJ with then you’ll end up sounding like an amateur who doesn’t know what he’s doing.
