It appears Twitter have started banning accounts that auto publish things like now playing information.
We think its to cut down on the amount of spam on the social networking site.
Although it begs the question why did Twitter have an API that allowed auto posting of information if they were only going to change their minds later?
We’ve seen posts on various forums warning people about it.
I went through the appeals procedure, only to be sent a generic e-mail saying my account had breached multiple violations of their terms of service, and don’t contact us again comment.
I appealed again asking what the violations were [I police my account carefully] and got the same generic reply.
So Twitter suspends you without a proper reason, and won’t talk about it. Thanks Twitter.
Let that be a warning to those who think using Twitter to promote your station is a good idea.
So that means PHP scripts like the Shoutcast now playing to Twitter are now obsolete. We stopped supplying the code for the Twitter auto posting script from this website a long time ago.
You will have to manually publish now playing information on your Twitter account from now on. Just be careful how often you post though!
It was good while it lasted but you know these social media companies they like to move the goalposts every now and then.
