Altacast No Longer Supported On The RadioDJ Forum

This morning I went onto the RadioDJ forums to see what was happening.

I saw a post from Marius the website owner stating that the Altacast sub forum had been removed.

“We were notified that Altacast is violating DMCA and as a result I will remove all related stuff from this forum.”

Marius went onto say this: “For support, please contact its author and don’t use our forum”

It appears Fraunhofer the people behind AAC encoding technology seem to think Altacast is breaking DMCA rules. Like its predecessor Edcast/Oddcast.

(Although we cannot find a DMCA complaint related to the Altacast website or software)

It now means support for Altacast Standalone/Plugin/DSP is somewhat limited.

For future updates you’re probably best keeping an eye on the Altacast Website

Be aware that future versions of RadioDJ may not support the Altacast plugin.

Which means you will have to find another alternative to stream with.

Update 2018: Altacast seems to be a dead project now there have been no updates since March 2016, the only reason there is still a website is because its hosted on a free hosting package.

Why Does RadioDJ Rely On A MySQL Database?

Saw this post on a forum on a post about RadioDJ free radio automation software.

“The biggest fail with RadioDJ to me is the reliance upon a MySQL database”

RadioDJ database setup new

So Why does RadioDJ rely on a MYSQL database?

RadioDJ requires MySQL to run some backend functions such as Rotations/Playlists/Events and even listener requests.

The fact RadioDJ relies on a database for some of it’s functions is actually one of it’s PLUS points.

Sam Broadcaster Problems Unique?

It appears the Spacial Audio marketing department don’t like users asking on their social media pages if anyone else is suffering problems with SAM Broadcaster.

“We would greatly appreciate it if you could let us handle customer queries as customer problems are unique”

Yes that’s what we’ll call the problems with Spacial Audio software “Unique”

Sam Broadcaster Unacceptable Activation Error

Did one of my regular visits to the Spacial Audio forums just to see what the latest posts/gripes from customers were.

“I find these activation errors with this software absolutely ridiculous”

A long time advocate of SAM Broadcaster seems to be getting rather annoyed with the way the program activation server says they have already exceeded their activation limit.

Vigilante Stream Monitoring Group?

With everything that’s gone on this past few weeks in regards to the new Licence fee rate hikes.

It’s no surprise that some online stations have decided to go off air because of the costs involved.

I’ve just had this brought to my attention on a broadcasting forum.

There is a group of ex US Broadcasters that were forced off the air because of the hike in royalty rates, and these people have decided to form a vigilante stream monitoring group.
