SAM Broadcaster vs RadioDJ which piece of software wins?
Someone asked me to do a comparison between the 2 pieces of software a while back.
SAM Broadcaster Pro/Studio (Streaming Audio Manager) Price: $299/$699
Requires Online Activation: Yes
Requires Registration Keys: Yes
Supported OS: Windows 7/8/10 (Older 4.x.x versions won’t work on Windows 8/10)
Supported File types: mp3/wma/ogg/flac/m4a/aac/wav
Streaming: Built in encoders (Which are prone to buffering)
Supported Databases: MySQL/Firebird/PostgreSQL/MS SQL
Stability: Very poor reliability. (Users frequently report the program crashes or freezes without warning)
Ease of use: Can be difficult to setup & there are complicated (PAL) scripts to learn if you want advanced automation.
Support: After you buy the product there is very poor customer service
Restrictions: You can only run 1 radio station per SAM Broadcaster licence & with certain versions of SAM you can only stream to one service.
RadioDJ (Free Radio Automation Software) Price: $0.00 FREE/Gratis
Requires Online Activation: No
Requires Registration Keys: No
Supported OS: Windows 7/8/10 (Works brilliantly on Windows 10)
Supported File Types: mp3/wma/ogg/flac/m4a/wav/ac3 (other formats can be added by using BASS add-ons from un4seen.com)
Streaming: Shoutcast/Icecast streaming can be done via a plugin or alternatively you can use a stand alone encoding program.
Supported Databases: MySQL (The database in RadioDJ has been kept simple)
Stability: RadioDJ can run for weeks and months without requiring a restart.
Ease of Use: Once setup RadioDJ is easy to use, like most software it can take time to get used to what the program does.
Support: If you run into an issue with RadioDJ you can get great support on the Community Forums
Restrictions: NONE! You can use the software where you want when you want.
So there you have it. We’ve compared the 2 pieces of software just as someone asked us to.
We still come to the same conclusion everytime.
“We feel SAM Broadcaster isn’t worth the $299 Spacial Audio charge for the program. We really can’t see where the ‘Value’ is”
Actually did we need to write a blog post to tell people that?
We’ve noticed a rise in people offering & searching for illegal cracked versions of SAM Broadcaster.
Over the past couple of years 56,451 people have actively looked for a SAM Broadcaster patch/key/crack according to Google analytics!
“It seems people think it’s OK to have cracked/pirated versions of SAM Broadcaster”
No it isn’t OK in any way, shape or form.
SAM Broadcaster costs a lot of $$$ to subscribe to, Even when you do subscribe the software is leased to you… You still don’t own it outright.
Why bother with an illegal/cracked/warez copy of SAM Broadcaster anyway?
You won’t be able to crack/patch the newer versions of SAM Broadcaster no matter how hard you try. Spacial Audio have coded something into the newer versions of SAM, To stop it from being altered/cracked.
“Plus the Spacial Audio user zone is the ONLY place where you can download a FULL version of the software that can be unlocked via a registration key. DEMO versions of the software can not be unlocked, even if you have a valid key.”
By downloading cracked/pirated copies of software you are also opening your PC up to attacks from ransom-ware/malware or other evil nasty Trojans and viruses.
Most of the SAM Broadcaster patches we tested in the past had some really nasty malware in them.
You wouldn’t want someone holding your PC to ransom just because you’ve downloaded a cracked version of some really dodgy software now would you?
I’ve been into Internet radio for a long time now. In all those years I’ve learnt a lot of things about streaming on the Internet.
It’s been a fun thing to learn about. Other times it’s been hard work because software wasn’t doing the job it was designed for.
“The biggest issue we’ve encountered when it came to the Internet radio automation software offerings has always been the lack of stability or reliability, We could never get a stream to hold up for longer than 2 days with certain software”
We don’t appear to have that problem with *RadioDJ FREE radio automation software.
We began using RadioDJ v184.108.40.206 about 5 and a half years ago now and that worked like a Trojan running our stream.
The newer versions of RadioDJ are far more powerful than 220.127.116.11 was.
RadioDJ just sits quietly in the background automating my local music stream. (Gave up running an online stream ages ago)
“We know of one user who has gone 16 months without having to restart RadioDJ”
So if you’re looking for a stable & reliable DJ program for use on InternetRadio then RadioDJ is what you need.
I like some of the searches I see coming from Google analytics. One used over the past few days was “free radio broadcast automation software”
I’m guessing they were probably looking for an alternative to another well known radio automation program.
If you’re in the market for some FREE radio broadcasting software.
Then you need RadioDJ FREE radio automation software.
RadioDJ is a pretty fantastic piece of kit we’ve used it for around 5 years now.
Considering it’s free it comes packed with some pretty awesome features.
1) It’s 100% FREE with NO keys, No catches, No online activations or restrictions on use.
2) RadioDJ is so reliable and it will run for weeks/months without a need of a reboot.
3) Great support via the Community Forums.
4) Great sound via the built in sound processing.
5) It’s really simple to create or manage playlists, rotations and events.
6) Music library support. You can create and add as many categories/subcategories you need.
There are more great reasons like the “Online request system” or the “Plugins for streaming” but we will let you download and install RadioDJ and play with it and see for yourself.
