Shoutcast Injecting Pre Roll Adverts

Woken up the news that Shoutcast/Radionomy were injecting pre roll adverts into peoples streams.

**Update: DJEgg posted this on the forums**

“We were testing the insertion of pre-rolls for one particular CDN (hosting provider) who’d requested it.
Unfortunately, in the process, pre-rolls for all registered DNAS stations was activated by mistake. We’ve now disabled it.
Thanks everyone for letting us know. We apologize for the inconvenience.
Monetization for DNAS is indeed opt-in, not opt-out”

This was happening to online radio station owners who are using the latest build of the Shoutcast DNAS.

Sam Broadcaster Crack? No Need!

A while back I wrote an article about the amount of tweets on Twitter there were with people offering cracked versions of SAM Broadcaster.

SAM Broadcaster

Over the past couple of years over 103,213 people have actively looked for a SAM Broadcaster patch/key/crack on this website according to Google analytics!

(We know all your dirty little secrets!)

If all those hits had been potential customers of Spacial Audio that would mean $30,860,687 in lost sales!

Nothing ever changes I see searches on a daily basis from people trying to get their hands on a cracked copy of SAM Broadcaster.

Help Someone’s Using My Station Name (Shoutcast)

Keep seeing posts on the Shoutcast forums from people running radio stations who state that someone else is streaming using their station name.

Shoutcast listings

“We heard 2 different streams under our station name, What is the source of the 2nd stream”
“Someone is using the same station name I want it removed”
“WTF? there’s a station with the same streaming radio name as my radio”

That’s the thing with Shoutcast people can call their radio station what they want and unless you’re a really big commercial radio station who has the money to get lawyers involved, There isn’t a fat lot you can do about it.

You Have A Choice?

When it comes to radio automation software you have a choice…

“Do you pay $$$ for a program or do you download a program for free?”

Personally we’d rather have something for FREE. Leaves us with more money to spend on other stuff.

RadioDJ

Nearly everytime we test the paid for automation solutions we come to the conclusion that the paid for offerings within the radio automation market just don’t perform that well.
