MariaDB & RadioDJ (Setting Up MySQL)

We came across MariaDB after a user posted on the RadioDJ forums that they were using it with RadioDJ.

If you have previously had MySQL installed you will need to see this article about removing it as a service

1) Download the Maria DB MSI installer for your version of Windows Here

2) Open the file & Install and run when Windows prompts.

3) On the licence agreement screen check the accept box. Click next.

Changing The Default MySQL Port

Changing the Default SQL port:

When it comes to a MySQL server running along side RadioDJ some users have found that their web hosts won’t allow connections to the default SQL port 3306.

If you need a specific port open for this to work it’s probably a wise idea to email your website host support department asking if it’s OK to use a non standard port for use with SQL. Otherwise you may get into trouble with them.

What Database Issues? (MariaDB)

I asked my partner to find out when we actually installed MariaDB on our PC that we run RadioDJ from.

We’ve had MariaDB installed on all of our machines since June 2014. Including any website servers its rare we have to do any maintenance.

Since we started using MariadB we’ve only had 1 maybe 2 issues with a database table becoming corrupted after a sudden/improper shutdown of the computer.
