Have you ever wondered how to start your own online Internetradio station?
In order to start an Internetradio station you need the following…
A user on the RadioDJ forums was asking for help setting up his Shoutcast encoder so I thought I would do a basic post about how you set one up.
Most encoding software tends to be similar to setup and run.
Most of the encoding programs rely on several bits of information in order for you to connect to Shoutcast or Icecast

There appears to be some confusion about Altacast encoding software it seems people thought it was connected to RadioDJ.
Altacast is/was coded by a completely different person who seems to have disappeared off the forums and the Internet, Plus the Altacast website hasn’t been updated in over 3 and 1/2 years.

Recently noticed a couple of users complaining they were having performance issues with the machine they were running RadioDJ on.
It’s since transpired that they had other programs/processes open when they had the problems.

I saw a post from Marius the website owner stating that the Altacast sub forum had been removed.
“We were notified that Altacast is violating DMCA and as a result I will remove all related stuff from this forum.”
Marius went onto say this: “For support, please contact its author and don’t use our forum”
It appears Fraunhofer the people behind AAC encoding technology seem to think Altacast is breaking DMCA rules. Like its predecessor Edcast/Oddcast.
(Although we cannot find a DMCA complaint related to the Altacast website or software)
It now means support for Altacast Standalone/Plugin/DSP is somewhat limited.
For future updates you’re probably best keeping an eye on the Altacast Website
Be aware that future versions of RadioDJ may not support the Altacast plugin.
Which means you will have to find another alternative to stream with.
Update 2018: Altacast seems to be a dead project now there have been no updates since March 2016, the only reason there is still a website is because its hosted on a free hosting package.

I saw there had been an update for Radiocaster the stand alone encoding software from DJSoft.
I downloaded and installed it to do a few tests again. Not much appears to have changed really since I last tested version 2.3.0.
The demo still has the annoying “Stream encoded by Radiocaster” popping up every few minutes.
We can’t really test something that puts audio over the stream now can we?
