SAM Broadcaster versus RadioDJ which piece of software is better?
Someone asked me to do a comparison between the 2 pieces of software.

So you’ve installed RadioDJ and imported your music and you’re stuck as to what track rotations are let me try and explain a little.
Track Rotations in RadioDJ selects the music only from the categories you tell it to choose from, You can have multiple rotations for different moods, just don’t forget to save the rotation once you’ve created it.
Also make sure when creating a rotation item that the repeat rules boxes are checked so you don’t have any repetition in songs.

As I’m sat here surfing the web and posting on Twitter & RadioDJ is playing away in the background doing better Segues between songs than I ever could. I was never much of a mixing DJ anyway.
The crossfading in RadioDJ is just another reason to LOVE the software, I’m just happy I’ve finally found the most perfect piece of audio playback software.
“If only technology had been this advanced in the 1980s I wouldn’t have a bad back from carrying Vinyl everywhere, Heavy gear was the curse of a DJ back in the day record cases weighed a ton”

We first discovered & started using RadioDJ radio automation software way back in November 2010 but it was January 1st 2011 before we started to use it full time.
We started looking for another automation solution because SAM Broadcaster was getting beyond annoying & just wouldn’t work as it was supposed to.

For the past few years we’ve used Virtualbox to run Windows 7/10 on Ubuntu Studio so we could run RadioDJ..
For the most part its worked relatively OK but there were always issues I couldn’t quite put my finger on or fix.

Yes I’m aware this is another post about RadioDJ and how great it is BUT the fact is its far more stable and reliable than other expensive radio automation software which you can pay lots of $$$, £££ or €€€ for.
We experienced what is known as a Clockwheel Failure where SAM Broadcaster would only play Station ID’s and Jingles even though the Clockwheel rotation had over 5,000 tracks to choose from so there shouldn’t have been an issue.
Switching to RadioDJ was the best decision I have ever made when it came to software, It was easy to use once I configured its database and options.

This is just a quick heads up for anyone using Windows XP who is thinking of updating RadioDJ from v1.8.2 or older to the new version.
You can’t you’re stuck with v1.8.2 as v2.0.0 requires .NET 4.6.1 and that by all accounts won’t install on Windows XP.
“Bummer. 4.6.1 will not run on XP SP3. That kills that idea. Oh well. Guess I have to move up to Win 7”

One of my followers on my old Facebook page had his copy of RadioDJ v1.8.2 up and running for over 2 years.
“All I can say to that is WOW! it makes RadioDJ a record breaker in my books”
We’ve never known a piece of radio automation software that is as reliable and stable as RadioDJ and yes you can quote us on that.
