Just a quick heads up for anyone thinking of setting up MySQL 8 for use with RadioDJ
I thought I would download it and install it to see if it worked alongside RadioDJv2, That’s after I chose the right download the smaller download of the 2 available didn’t want to execute for some reason.
There are more options than MariaDB but that’s nothing new for Oracle MySQL.
Step 1) Download MySQL8 from the Oracle website you will find the Windows installers here
Step 2 Once downloaded right click on the .msi installer and click on install you should see this screen.
Tick the “I agree” box and click next.
Step 3) Choosing the setup type for this you only really need the server part.
Click Next
Step 4) Highlight the server you want to install (see picture) and Click “execute” this should now start the install process.
Step 5) You move onto product configuration.
Click Next
Step 6) Group replication choose the first option and click next
Step 7) Type and Networking you need the configuration as in the picture below.
Click Next
Step 8) Authentication Method: You should choose the first option.
Click Next
Step 9) You need to enter the password you want to use and you also need to configure yourself a user account
Click OK on the user details box after you’ve created your user.
Click next and you should be on this screen
You will now need to configure a few things.
Step 10) On the next window you see “Plugins and extensions” don’t check anything just click next.
Step 11) You need to enter the password you want to use and you also need to configure yourself a user account
Click OK on the user details box after you’ve created your user.
Click next and you should be on this screen you don’t need to tick anything.
Click Next
Step 12) You should now be good to apply the configuration to your MySQL server.
If everything has gone to plan MySQL should now be installed. Click on Finish.
You should be good to start installing and configuring the RadioDJ database.
I’ve tried making this tutorial as easy to understand as I can, We hope it helps you if you’re planning on using Oracle MySQL for your computer,
Personally I think its far too complicated compared to MariaDB
