Sam Broadcaster No1 Selling Radio Automation Program?

Spacial Audio had something of a monopoly when it came to Internet radio automation software.

19 years or so ago people wanting to run an Internet radio station had only 1 option and that was to pay $$$ for radio automation software.

“SAM Broadcaster may well have been the No1 selling radio automation program once upon a time”

But RadioDJ v1.8.2 was downloaded over 220,000 times making it more popular than SAM Broadcaster by a mile.

SAM Broadcaster v1.3

Winamp Feature Req: Smart Crossfade

A user has posted on the feature request section of the Winamp forums asking the developers to include “Smart crossfading” in the next version.

Winamp

“Smart crossfade analyses the playlist and determines if the songs are in increasing sequential track order from the same album. If they aren’t (like in most random mixes) user defined crossfading is used”

Any improvement in crossfading between tracks in Winamp would be welcomed.

Radiocaster 2.5.0

I saw there had been an update for Radiocaster the stand alone encoding software from DJSoft.

Radio caster 2.5.0

I downloaded and installed it to do a few tests again. Not much appears to have changed really since I last tested version 2.3.0.

The demo still has the annoying “Stream encoded by Radiocaster” popping up every few minutes.

We can’t really test something that puts audio over the stream now can we?

Configuring The Windows Firewall

Configuring your firewall

If you’re just running RadioDJ with no webpage linked to the RadioDJ database, then you probably don’t want to add any exceptions to your firewall.

If you’re using a request system and need this extra functionality, you’ll first of all need to make sure your web host has the right ports open. Without this, there’s no point proceeding any further on this article. Check the database utility > Database installation tab. You’ll see the IP address of your server in the MySQL Server box. If there’s a colon followed by more numbers at the end, this is your port number. If there’s no colon, you’re probably using the default port 3306.

You’ll also need to configure port forwarding on your router as well, google the manufacturer’s instruction manual for this bit.

Now for the easy part, configuring the firewall.
