Saw a topic on the Winamp forums today, from a user wanting to use Winamp Pro to automate the music for his radio station.
Winamp is only really of any use if you want to listen to an online radio station or play a few music tracks from the same album. It’s nowhere near suitable for automating an Internet radio station with.
You don’t have any proper artist/title/album separation rules in Winamp. So you’re just going to hear the same songs/artists/tracks over and over.
You also get lots of awkward silence between tracks with Winamp, I could never get it to crossfade or detect silence properly. Having silence between tracks isn’t going to win you any listeners.
Plus listeners expect higher standards from online radio stations these days.
I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again!
Thankfully there is more advanced radio automation software these days with RadioDJ
RadioDJ crossfades properly & it also has the ability to load playlists/rotations/files at a set time via events & it can just be left to automate using track rotations to pull songs from the categories you choose.
That’s one of the downsides of Winamp: You have to change playlists/folders manually and that gets tiring and cumbersome.
RadioDJ is so much better at automating everything, Once setup and configured it will run for days/weeks and months
(Windows updates are usually the only reason we need RadioDJ to be restarted)
The best part about RadioDJ is it’s FREE for use by any radio station of budding radio DJ anywhere in the world.
No Catches – No Hidden Fees – Just amazing radio automation software.
If you haven’t discovered RadioDJ give it a try today! Once you get used to it we can guarantee you’ll LOVE IT!
I’ve written a useful tutorial about Installing RadioDJ
If however you run into any issues setting up RadioDJ you can find help on the Community forums
Sorry Winamp but you just can’t cut the mustard when it comes to radio automation these days.
