SAM Broadcaster Unable to send data fast enough

Anyone who has ever encountered this problem with SAM Broadcaster knows how frustrating it can be when this error message appears in encoders window.

“Unable to send data fast enough Encoding paused until buffer clears”

When the encoders in SAM Broadcaster say “Unable to send data fast enough” It is NOT your internet connection or your computer at fault.

It’s a major flaw in the SAM Broadcaster encoders which has never been addressed.

If you do a search for the subject on the Spacial Audio forums.

The results extend to 28 pages with users being told that it’s a problem with their connection.

When it’s actually the SAM Broadcaster encoders at fault.

We’ve spent long enough testing other standalone encoding software options & they all worked as they should for days and weeks without buffering.

There is an easy solution to this problem.

1) Uninstall Sam Broadcaster from your PC.
2) Download RadioDJ & unzip the RadioDJ folder onto the root of the C:\ drive outside the programs folder.

3) Install RadioDJ as per These Instructions
4) Then you can install either a standalone encoder or you can install the RadioDJ Streaming Plugin

Hopefully you should have no more buffering issues with your stream.

If you do it might be worth having a word with your ISP support department to smooth out any connection problems with your upload speeds.

Also in the unlikely event of you running into any issues then there’s help available on the RadioDJ Community Forum

If you search the RadioDJ forums you might just find your question has been answered before.

No one should have to put up with the encoders in software buffering on them!

Unlimited Listeners? My Arse!

Yesterday I was made aware of an advert that had popped up on a forum for a company called Guru streaming.

So I went and had a look at the website.

While you are greeted with a very smart looking website when you actually get to the price plans your in for a shock!

$15.00 a month gets you 50GB of Transfer 250MB of storage and Oh Look “Unlimited Listeners”

If you decide that’s not enough for you you can always go for their “Diamond” package.

Which as you can see is a massive whopping $189.00 a month with 20GB storage (AutoDJ) and 2TB of data transfer with (Oh Look again) “Unlimited” listeners.

There is NO such thing as “Unlimited” when it comes to a server they all max out processing power and bandwidth eventually.

Why do these shoutcast streaming hosts feel the need to take the piss out of customers with packages that are just very poor value for money?

We pay just $11.95 a month for a self managed VPS With 150GB of storage space and 4TB bandwidth and I used to run my shoutcast servers on that.

Before you sign up for a shoutcast host do your homework. There are far better and cheaper shoutcast hosts out there. Read customer reviews and stuff like that.

Don’t be taken for a ride by a fly by night company who offer “Unlimted Listeners” then cap your monthly bandwidth

Always go for a package that just has listener limits that way you know the company has enough bandwidth for you to stream to your listeners sucessfully!

Unlimited Listeners? My Arse!

Shoutcast Ad supported Streams

Just read an article on Broadcasting World.

Radionomy have now launched Shoutcast Ad supported streams.

Which means an advert will play over your stream 2 times per hour.

This is if you are signed up totheir SHOUTcast Streaming Service.

I’m not sure if this is a good idea or not?

I just wonder how many listeners this is going to put off listening to a stream though Shoutcast?

I doubt this will do much for a lot of users other than annoy the people wanting to listen to music.

I feel that if people wanted adverts on a radio station then they would be listening to a station on the FM Dial or DAB not online!

One huge question remains:

Now Radionomy are sticking adverts into peoples streams does that mean Radionomy are paying for the royalties for that stations stream as well?

If the answer to that is yes then it would be a good idea.

If not then it’s a NO from me.

Don’t Stream with Spacial? No support!

Just when I think Spacial Audio support can’t sink any lower I see this on the facebook page for SAM broadcaster.

A user is having issues with the encoders in the latest version of SAM broadcaster 2014 disconnecting on him every 5 minutes.

I’ve written about the Encoders in SAM being dodgy before!

Spacial support have come back to this user and said because he isn’t using their “Streaming” services they can’t help him.

Does anyone else see the problem here?

The user has stated that his stream host isn’t having any issues. Last time I looked Voscast had a pretty decent uptime.

So it seems yet again the problem lies within SAM Broadcaster and it’s dodgy encoders!

You know the drill by now: Don’t buy SAM Broadcaster or any software product from Spacial Audio.

Don’t Stream with Spacial? No support! when something goes wrong.

How To: Get Listed on Steamcast

How To: Get Listed on Steamcast?

I’ve known about Steamcast for quite sometime now. After seeing a forum post about it yesterday I tried setting up a server on the computer.

Even for someone with a reasonable knowledge of how to configure stuff I was stumped while trying to get it up and running.

After trying both the Windows & Linux versions of Steamcast I just couldn’t get the encoder to connect. I kept getting a “Bad Password” error yet I tried both the admin and DJ passwords.

Then I read a bit more info on Steamcast on this post on Broadcasting world

I then realised you don’t need a Steamcast server to be listed on the Steamcast website. You can do this quite easily through your Icecast server.

You just need to add this bit of code to your Icecast server configuration file.

You can find the copy and paste of the code Here

Just add it to the code to the .xml configuration file of your Icecast server.

Restart your icecast server for the changes to take effect.

If all goes to plan and your server is listed as public your station should be listed Here

It really is that simple!

SAM Cast Fail

Reading through the Spacial forums this post caught my attention.

Screenshot from 2013-10-26 15:52:30

Yet again Spacial seem to be releasing software that isn’t fit for purpose.

They forced people into upgrading to the newer version of SAM Cast just so they could run the newer versions of the software on a new OS.

No software company should do that.

Instead they should make sure their software works on all versions of Windows.

Letting the end user decide what operating system they want to use.

If you need a stand alone encoder then don’t bother with SAM Cast.

It doesn’t support title streaming (Unless you have a degree in programming)

Simplecast was the same that never worked properly either that was prone to crashing without warning as well.
