Pirate V’s Legal

Certain people in the Internet radio community reckoned we ran a pirate radio station & some people also reckon that I have done work for pirate stations in the past.

Nope completely wrong on all counts!

The stations I’ve worked for in the past were all legit and above board. I once got asked to work for a pirate station in Scunthorpe (WLNG) in the late 1980s but also declined that offer.

When it comes to streaming a station I’ve only ever streamed music for me to listen to via a private internal shoutcast server (Which we no longer need because we’ve bought a Chromecast)

What really gets my back up on this subject is the fact that there are so many stations listed on various radio guide websites who have never owned a licence to stream.

Some of those stations have been going over 14 years. I won’t name names but you just know a pirate station on the Internet when you come across one.

No one it seems pulls them up about not having a licence for their music.

I am still streaming my music via a private server Chromecast and I intend to carry on doing so.

Now piss off and find someone else to harass!

Radiodj Reliable And Stable

By now most of you know RadioDJ is my no1 choice when it comes to music automation software.

I can leave RadioDJ to do what it does best and that is automate my music collection without me having to worry.

Reliability and stability is what you would expect from a piece of radio automation software and with RadioDJ you get that in spades.

It’s just a shame we couldn’t say the same for “other” paid for radio automation software. We were lucky if other software held up for more than a few hours never mind a few days.

RadioDJ will work for days and weeks without anyone needing to keep an eye on it. (One user reported 7.5 months uptime)

I’m nowhere near as stressed these days because I know just how reliable and stable RadioDJ can be. I don’t find myself swearing at software now.

If you haven’t tried RadioDJ free radio automation software yet, What’s stopping you?

You’ll never know unless you try it for yourself!

You can find more information on how to setup RadioDJ Here.

Once you get used to RadioDJ you’ll wonder why you ever paid for other well known automation software in the first place.

How To: Get Listed On Steamcast

How To: Get Listed on Steamcast?

I’ve known about Steamcast for quite sometime now. After seeing a forum post about it yesterday I tried setting up a server on the computer.

Even for someone with a reasonable knowledge of how to configure stuff I was stumped while trying to get it up and running.

After trying both the Windows & Linux versions of Steamcast I just couldn’t get the encoder to connect. I kept getting a “Bad Password” error yet I tried both the admin and DJ passwords.

Then I read a bit more info on Steamcast on this post on Broadcasting world

I then realised you don’t need a Steamcast server to be listed on the Steamcast website. You can do this quite easily through your Icecast server.

You just need to add this bit of code to your Icecast server configuration file.

You can find the copy and paste of the code Here

Just add it to the code to the .xml configuration file of your Icecast server.

Restart your icecast server for the changes to take effect.

If all goes to plan and your server is listed as public your station should be listed Here

It really is that simple!
