Stop Blaming Peoples Internet Connection

Reading a topic on the Spacial forums from a user who’s having those dreaded “Buffering” issues with the encoders in SAM Broadcaster.

The SVS volunteers on the Spacial forums are trying yet again to blame the problem on the user’s connection.

It’s NOT the user’s broadband connection, ISP or even shoutcast/icecast server at fault, It’s the encoders in SAM Broadcaster being poorly coded. The user has already explained that their Internet connection is working as it should…

The SAM Broadcaster encoders have failed on us several times on several different computers with different ISP providers, They even buffered while streaming to a local shoutcast server on the same PC. So it’s not someones connection at fault.

Even the old winamp DSP plugin encoders would suffer from the same problem.

DSP encoders

“It’s a long standing BUG in badly coded software”

SAM Broadcaster encoders disconnection

I’ve written before about the encoders in SAM Broadcaster buffering.

It’s nothing new there are still over 28 pages of posts on the subject on the SAM Broadcaster forums.

All of those users being told it’s their computer or Internet connection at fault when in reality it’s the software itself.

This is not an issue we’ve ran into using other encoding software. We never had a problem with buffering when we used other software to encode with.

We last used the Streaming plugin for RadioDJ to do a test with and it held up for well over 10 days without any errors or buffering.

We only had to restart the PC because of Windows 10 updates.

The encoders buffering in SAM Broadcaster is a BUG that has never been fixed and has been in the program since the days of version v2.7.7

We really do wish Spacial SVS support on the forums would stop blaming peoples connections when the encoders buffer in SAM Broadcaster.

Start Your Internet Radio Station with RadioDJ

Q: Have you ever wanted to start your own online Internet radio station?

Internet radio can be a really great hobby to have, Once you get used to how everything works it’s great fun. It can be daunting at first but don’t be afraid of searching Google or radio forums for tips and advice.

Most people think setting up an online Internet radio station will cost them lots of $$$.

It need not cost you anything to initially setup your own online radio station. (Not misleading!)

Yes you heard that right! You can start your Internet radio station for FREE with RadioDJ (Yes it’s really FREE)

You will need a decent PC with minimum of 1GB RAM and a decent broadband connection in order to stream successfully.

RadioDJ free radio automation software

RadioDJ is a fully fledged radio studio automation package which once installed and configured works rather well at automating music/jingles/promos, Which of course is what the program was designed to do.

RadioDJ can be left alone for long periods of time to do what it does best.

Follow this link to a easy to follow tutorial on How to setup RadioDJ

You can find some other handy radio software downloads on this page

If you have any issues setting RadioDJ up you can find help on the Community Forums

After you’ve installed RadioDJ you will then need a Shoutcast or Icecast server to stream to.

Shoutcast DNAS server page

You can find some FREE shoutcast/icecast hosting by searching Google for “Free Streaming servers”

Alternatively you can pay a Shoutcast/icecast host for a server from around $2/3 a month. Do your research on Google and steer clear of hosts who offer “Unlimited Listeners”

“There is NO such thing as unlimited listener slots! All servers max out their bandwidth/processing power eventually”

Make your station unique! Stand out from the crowd and who knows eventually you could have a successful online Internet radio station.

Tip: Be patient don’t expect to learn everything within 5 minutes, Like every hobby it will take time to get used to what does what.

Please Note: In order to be Legal in your country of origin you will need a licence to stream music on the Internet.

Happy streaming!

“Beware of Free Radio Automation Software”

Spacial Audio have written a blog post about choosing the right software for running a radio station with.

When it comes to free radio automation software they said this.

“Free software can often come at a higher cost in the long run, with hidden fees and complex contracts that can be costly if you don’t foresee them”

“Beware of Free Radio Automation Software” what planet are you on Spacial?

When it comes to FREE radio software such as RadioDJ there are NO catches, No hidden costs or complex contracts & the “Offer” isn’t too good to be true either!

RadioDJ FREE radio automation software

RadioDJ doesn’t require registration keys or activation in order to unlock the benefits of the program.

“Meanwhile, genuinely free software sometimes does not deliver on expectations, from poor performance to a lack of support when things go wrong”

Wrong again! RadioDJ has great performance and stability one user we spoke to on Facebook hasn’t had to restart the program running on his laptop in over 6 months.

We know of one RadioDJ (Ex SAM) user who is running 4 Shoutcast stations with RadioDJ with no issues.

RadioDJ free radio automation software has really great support via the community lead forums

It’s YOU who has the distinct “Lack of Support” Spacial Audio!

Not a week goes by without us seeing some customer of yours complaining on social media that your Support department haven’t replied to their support ticket/query & sometimes it’s taken you over a week to reply to a user having problems with your software.

SAMsucks

So you can cut that piece of bullshit out for starters.

It really annoys me when the Spacial Audio marketing department try and pull a stunt like this because they’re “worried” by the amount of $$$ they’re losing in sales to RadioDJ!

(Over $29,603,990 at the last count)

Everyone knows that RadioDJ is the FUTURE of radio automation software.

RadioDJ Free radio automation download

Free radio automation software isn’t as BAD as Spacial Audio are trying to make out!

The free alternatives work far better than the paid for solutions such as SAM Broadcaster.

You only have to search this website to learn just how bad SAM Broadcaster is as a piece of software.

“We’ve used RadioDJ for around 5 years now and haven’t had any issues with stability or reliability and we haven’t had to pay for any upgrades or new features”

The clue is in the name “RadioDJ FREE radio automation software”

RadioDJ is FREE will remain FREE for the foreseeable future…

Stop telling LIES about free software not being “as good” Spacial Audio it sounds like a desperate bid to make a sale of your software.

People can see through corporate bullshit you know!

RadioDJ is completely 100% FREE with No catches despite what Spacial Audio might say…

You might want to take that blog post down Spacial as it’s full of lies from start to finish.

FREE software isn’t anyone’s enemy!

Update!: A few hours after I posted this blog post it seems Spacial Audio changed the wording of their blog post! If that doesn’t show paranoia nothing does!

Changed Blog post.

Guess you were in the wrong all along eh Spacial?

P.S: Spacial If you’re really struggling to sell your software then maybe you should make SAM Broadcaster FREE and only charge for stuff like SAM Broadcaster Cloud.

(Just a thought)

Setup a free radio station with SAM Broadcaster?

Saw someone tweet this on Twitter recently.

“How to setup a free radio station with SAM Broadcaster”

The tweet with a link took me to a video on YouTube which was supposed to be a tutorial for something.

Then another link at the bottom of the video then took me to the DJSoft/RadioBoss website.

Which in turn meant it was a marketing ploy for DJSoft to try and shift his overpriced software. (Nice try!)

The original tweet was somewhat misleading anyway…

You cannot setup a FREE radio station with SAM Broadcaster as the program costs $299-$699 so therefore is not FREE!

There is only one truly FREE radio automation package on the market and that is RadioDJ

RadioDJ Free radio automation download

You don’t even need a serial key or crack patch in order to work RadioDJ.

If your just planning on setting up an online radio station I would highly suggest you use RadioDJ.

RadioDJ out performs all the other paid for automation packages such as SAM Broadcaster and even RadioBoss.

You’ll be thankful when you haven’t paid $$$ for software that may not have worked as advertised anyway.

Next time I see someone Tweet “How to setup a free radio station with SAM Broadcaster?”

I’ll Tweet them back with the word “Bullshit”

Stop Limiting What Software a DJ Can Use.

Came across a conversation on social media yesterday from someone interested in being a DJ for an online radio community (Habbo).

They were asking what software they needed to use to do a show with.

“You have to use SAM Broadcaster (No exceptions)”

Click toi enlarge

Why restrict DJ’s to only one piece of software? DJ’s are by their nature are creative people so dictating to them what software they can and can’t use isn’t really going to go down well.

I’d even go as far as saying it may put off potential DJ’s from working for you.

Digging a bit deeper into the “Habbo community” it would appear that there are SAM Broadcaster keys publicly available on one of the fansite forums.

Screenshot - 290915 - 18:54:99

“So they’re allowing users to openly share keys for software? Naughty Naughty!

Allowing users to share keys to software that costs $299 is not going to make you look good.

I hope Spacial take your fansites/community to court for software piracy!

Just because SAM Broadcaster is there doesn’t mean you have to force people have to use it!

There’s far better software for doing online radio shows with that doesn’t require keys/codes and that’s RadioDJ

Hey “HABBO” stop limiting what software a DJ can use! It should be their choice. OH and tell those fansites to take the illegal software links/keys off their forums while you’re at it. No one likes software piracy!

You Don’t Have to be a Radio DJ to use RadioDJ

As you probably know by now I swear by RadioDJ free radio automation software.

Although while it’s primarily built for use in a radio studio, You don’t have to be a Radio DJ to use the program.

It also works great for automating your music collection at home.

We currently use it for automating music in & around the flat.

With the built in request system it could also be used as a solution for Jukebox in a pub/bar.

If you’ve converted your CD’s to mp3/FLAC or other supported formats and you’re looking for a program that is easy to manage and great at automating your music collection then RadioDJ is the program you need.

RadioDJ Free radio automation download

It’s not really that difficult to get RadioDJ up and running.

You just need to follow some Basic Instructions and have a bit of patience.

Once you have RadioDJ installed and working you can then start importing music into the program.

From the options menu you will probably need to go into “Categories” to edit the categories you want your music to appear in.

Once you’ve sorted out categories and imported the music.

Then you will need to setup custom rotations.

Example:

After you’ve done that and the music is playing away nicely then the job is almost done.

When you create a rotation in Option>Tracks Rotation you have the option to save it into the database. Give it a memorable name.

If you want different styles of music at different times of day then you would use events to load the track rotation of your choice at a set time.

Events can be found by clicking on the “big bar” at the bottom of RadioDJ or via Option>Events

Once you have all that sorted you can keep playing with rotations and playlists until you have your music collection fully automated.

Top Tip: Don’t expect to learn everything about RadioDJ in the space of a week. It will take time to get used to what things do within the program.

Once you get used to what RadioDJ can do you’ll love just how easy it is to use.

Who knows you might end up wanting to become a Radio DJ yourself?
