Your SAM Broadcaster Subscription Has Expired?

Over the last couple of years now Spacial audio have gone with a subscription based model for the newer versions of SAM Broadcaster. Nothing wrong with that I hear you say…

“However should your subscription run out part way through the year, You are left stuck with the last version of SAM Broadcaster your subscription was eligible for & you would need to pay out $$$ all over again to upgrade to the latest version”

The future of streaming: Only for the rich?

I’ve been reading a few articles this past few weeks to do with Internet radio royalty fees going up for stations on the Internet.

>> This being one of them < <

Some station owners are paying as little as $23.50 a month to licence their streams at the moment and it’s those broadcasters who are going to be affected by any rise in royalty payments.

Under the WSA which expires this year the SoundExchange portion of royalties would be around $60-$90 a month.

Winamp and Shoutcast Now Owned by Vivendi

I saw a post on the Winamp/Shoutcast forums this morning. It would appear Winamp and Shoutcast are now partly owned by a company called Vivendi.

“Winamp is backā€¦ in the hands of a major corporation: Vivendi has acquired a 64.4 percent stake in Radionomy, the European online radio services company that owns Winamp and Shoutcast as well as the online radio ad marketplace Targetspot.

Vivendi owns the likes of Universal Music Group, Canal+ and Dailymotion.

Ideas for Cheap Microphones?

This is a question somebody asked on the RadioDJ forums earlier today.

“Please could all of you give me some good ideas on cheap microphones I can use with radio DJ that will link into the soundcard of my tower”

We’re guessing this guy wants to just be able to plug a cheap microphone straight into his computer and have the audio from that go through RadioDJ

I posted awhile back about people wanting a Microphone input in RadioDJ to bypass the need for a mixer.

Some people seem to think the Input button in RadioDJ is for a microphone. That’s not what the input button in RadioDJ is for…

Whose Blog Is It Anyway?

OK People of the world of Internet radio can you all do me a huge favour?

Stop telling me what to think/post/write on this website and even social media sites such as Twitter and Facebook.

I’m getting royally fed up of people having a go at me because of my dislike for a certain piece of software.

It’s all getting a bit boring when trolls start hiding behind their keyboards to dish out abuse and vitriol.

Microphone Input in Radio Automation Software?

It really annoys me when someone tries making out RadioDJ isn’t a “Professional” radio automation program because it doesn’t have a microphone input or Voice FX button like SAM Broadcaster.

RadioDJ 1.6.0 Mic input

RadioDJ had a microphone input back in the days of v1.6.0 and it has already been discussed at length on the RadioDJ forums as to why the newer versions of the software don’t have a microphone input.

You’re Cracking Us Up!!

I’ve written a few posts on this blog pertaining to people looking for SAM Broadcaster keys/cracks/keygens etc…

When I wrote them I had no idea that those posts would take on a life of their own.

SAM Broadcaster cracks searches

As far as I’m aware Spacial Audio don’t seem to think there’s a problem with people wanting pirated versions of their badly written software. Although they do put in several DMCA requests to Google every year.

Fake Stats on Shoutcast?

Fake Stats on Shoutcast?

A year and a half after this article was originally written I still don’t get it!

Search term used on Google analytics “Buy fake shoutcast listener script”

faking

Why is it that some stations on Shoutcast seem to want to fake their listener stats?

Shoutcast listings

As you can see from the picture the topstations are claiming to have 13,000 listeners.

When I looked at their PLS file they appear to have a cluster of shoutcast servers all on the same IP range all with around 80/90 listeners.

It’s not exactly rocket science to work out that listener figures somewhere are being messed around with.

It seems to me that it’s not just that one station but quite a few meddling with their listener figures.

This isn’t the first time I’ve seen online radio station owners blatantly lying about their listener figures.

A couple of years ago one station owner was bragging that he had 20,000 listeners a week.

When I monitored his shoutcast server the peak was about 46 listeners.

Why bother faking stats? It will only make you and your so called online radio station look silly.
