I saw there had been an update for Radiocaster the stand alone encoding software from DJSoft.
I downloaded and installed it to do a few tests again. Not much appears to have changed really since I last tested version 2.3.0.
The demo still has the annoying “Stream encoded by Radiocaster” popping up every few minutes.
We can’t really test something that puts audio over the stream now can we?

Just seen a post on the Spacial forums from a user using SAM Broadcaster Cloud to stream in Second Life.
He appears to be suffering with those dreaded “buffering” issues with the SAM Broadcaster Cloud broadcast control.

We’ve been accused of “Making up the problems about SAM Broadcaster”
Nope not lying or making anything up, things really are as bad as they seem with SAM Broadcaster
The problems documented on this website are just a few of the reasons as to why we think the software isn’t worth the $$$ Spacial Audio charge for it.

Reading a topic on the Spacial forums from a user who’s having those dreaded “Buffering” issues with the encoders in SAM Broadcaster.
The SVS volunteers on the Spacial forums are trying yet again to blame the problem on the user’s connection.
It’s NOT the user’s broadband connection, ISP or even shoutcast/icecast server at fault, It’s the encoders in SAM Broadcaster being poorly coded. The user has already explained that their Internet connection is working as it should…
The SAM Broadcaster encoders have failed on us several times on several different computers with different ISP providers, They even buffered while streaming to a local shoutcast server on the same PC. So it’s not someones connection at fault.
Even the old winamp DSP plugin encoders would suffer from the same problem.
“It’s a long standing BUG in badly coded software”
I’ve written before about the encoders in SAM Broadcaster buffering.
It’s nothing new there are still over 28 pages of posts on the subject on the SAM Broadcaster forums.
All of those users being told it’s their computer or Internet connection at fault when in reality it’s the software itself.
This is not an issue we’ve ran into using other encoding software. We never had a problem with buffering when we used other software to encode with.
We last used the Streaming plugin for RadioDJ to do a test with and it held up for well over 10 days without any errors or buffering.
We only had to restart the PC because of Windows 10 updates.
The encoders buffering in SAM Broadcaster is a BUG that has never been fixed and has been in the program since the days of version v2.7.7
We really do wish Spacial SVS support on the forums would stop blaming peoples connections when the encoders buffer in SAM Broadcaster.

With RadioDJ you have a couple of options when it comes to streaming.
You can either use a Plugin or you can use a standalone piece of encoding software.
Here are just some of the encoding programs available.
1) MB Recaster (4 free encoders) M B Recaster
2) BUTT (Free) BUTT
3) Edcast standalone Edcast
4) RadioCaster ($49.95) (Shoutcast v1 v2 & Icecast) RadioCaster

Edcast Stand Alone Encoder
Edcast is the Granddaddy of most of the standalone encoding software.
You can find a download of Edcast Here.
Note: To get Edcast working you may also need to install Visual basic.
(Just unzip and install the .exe files as you would a normal program)
Note: All downloads supplied as seen.
