In all the years I’ve been a DJ I’ve worked in some great places & I’ve lost count of the amount of requests I’ve taken from people for songs at some special event such as birthday or wedding.
Although requests were usually OK, Some nights you would get that one person who constantly kept coming up to the booth or stage demanding you played the song(s) they wanted to hear.
At one venue in Scunthorpe in 2008 I ended up quitting the Friday night DJ position after someone threatened me with violence for not playing the songs he wanted to hear… Thankfully that venue has long since been demolished to make way for housing.
What these IDIOTS need to remember is DJ’s are creative people & they’re paid to entertain a crowd!
DJ’s are NOT a Jukebox! You don’t dictate the playlist.
It takes a lot of skill and thought to get the playlist/set just right for the audience you are entertaining.
Next time you’re at a party and there’s a DJ playing the party tunes leave him to it he knows what he’s doing.
Although If you do feel the need to ask a DJ for a request at a party/pub etc…
Don’t start threatening them it will only get your song request put to the very bottom of the DJ’s playlist!
I’ve been into Internet radio for a long time now. In all those years I’ve learnt a lot of things about streaming on the Internet.
It’s been a fun thing to learn about. Other times it’s been hard work because software wasn’t doing the job it was designed for.
“The biggest issue we’ve encountered when it came to the Internet radio automation software offerings has always been the lack of stability or reliability, We could never get a stream to hold up for longer than 2 days with certain software”
We don’t appear to have that problem with *RadioDJ FREE radio automation software.
We began using RadioDJ v126.96.36.199 about 5 and a half years ago now and that worked like a Trojan running our stream.
The newer versions of RadioDJ are far more powerful than 188.8.131.52 was.
RadioDJ just sits quietly in the background automating my local music stream. (Gave up running an online stream ages ago)
“We know of one user who has gone 234 days (Roughly 7.5 months) without having to restart RadioDJ”
So if you’re looking for a stable & reliable DJ program for use on Internet radio then RadioDJ is what you need.
