Keep seeing posts on the Shoutcast forums from people running radio stations who state that someone else is streaming using their station name.
“Someone is using the same station name I want it removed”
“WTF? there’s a station with the same streaming radio name as my radio”
That’s the thing with Shoutcast people can call their radio station what they want and unless you’re a really big commercial radio station who has the money to get lawyers involved, There isn’t a fat lot you can do about it.
Anyway to get a stream taken down you’d have to know the IP of the computer streaming to the Shoutcast server and as far I’m aware you can’t find that out without being the admin of that server or contacting Shoutcast support, Even then they would probably tell you the same thing.
If I was so bloody minded even I could setup a stream within 5 minutes using a station name that is already listed on the Shoutcast directory.
(Its not rocket science)
You can rant and rave about someone else using your station name all you want it probably won’t get you very far.
If it really bothers you that much why not change your station name to something a bit more unique.
There are always bound to be others who think of the same station name it’s something you need to learn to live with.
Just make sure your stream is better than the competitor!
